Fifty-five out of 57 delegates of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) gathered at Wizzard Hall in Bo City on Saturday for the Association’s Ordinary Congress under the theme, “Consolidating Progress, Strengthening Governance, and Shaping the Future of Sierra Leone Football.”

In his opening address, SLFA President Babadi Kamara described the congress as historic, noting that it is the first time a newly elected SLFA president has convened an Ordinary Congress within the first year of taking office. He said the move demonstrates his administration’s commitment to respecting the Association’s statutes, which require an Ordinary Congress to be held in the second quarter of each year.

The opening session featured statements from the Southern Region FA Chairman, the National Olympic Committee (NOC), WAFU Zone A, the National Sports Authority (NSA), and the Minister of Sports.

During the closed session, delegates were expected to confirm the congress’s compliance with SLFA statutes, approve the agenda and minutes of the previous congress, receive the President’s Activity Report, review the consolidated and revised financial statements, approve the Association’s budget, and consider membership applications where applicable.

The two absentees were the Western Area Football Association (WAFA) and SLIFA Club. Both entities are headed by Benjamin Gordon, who serves as the owner of SLIFA Club and Secretary General of WAFA.

President Kamara assured delegates that his administration would continue to organize the Ordinary Congress annually in line with the SLFA statutes and principles of good governance.
