The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has successfully concluded its three-week CAF D Diploma Coaching Course at the SLFA Headquarters in Freetown, reinforcing its commitment to coaching education and grassroots football development.
The programme brought together 40 aspiring coaches, who completed 60 hours of intensive theoretical, technical, and practical training designed to equip them with the skills needed to develop young footballers at the grassroots level.
The course was facilitated by SLFA Technical Director John Keister and included a one-week internship attachment with Sierra Leone Premier League clubs, giving participants valuable hands-on coaching experience in professional football environments.
During the training, participants received instruction in modern coaching methodologies, player development, leadership, ethics, and professionalism, while also gaining practical experience to complement their classroom learning.
The course is the second CAF D Diploma programme organised under the leadership of SLFA President Babadi Kamara, highlighting the Association’s continued investment in strengthening coaching capacity across Sierra Leone.
The SLFA has also announced that its coaching education programme will continue next week with the second module of the second batch of the CAF C Diploma Coaching Course. Preparations are also underway for the CAF B Diploma Coaching Course, scheduled to begin in October, while another CAF D Diploma course is planned to provide additional opportunities for aspiring coaches.
