Sierra Leone’s Chef De Mission, Yayah Koroma, has praised Team Sierra Leone for its discipline, resilience, and professionalism following the opening ceremony of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

In a message to the delegation, Koroma commended the athletes and officials who represented the country during the ceremony and wished safe travels to team members still en route to Scotland, explaining that the Games’ length-of-stay policy meant not everyone could attend the opening event.

He also encouraged Sierra Leone’s athletes competing in swimming, boxing, athletics, track cycling, and judo to remain focused and give their best in representing the nation. Koroma further expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Sports, the National Sports Authority, the National Olympic Committee, and other officials for their leadership and continued support, while wishing Team Sierra Leone success throughout the Games.
