The High Court of Sierra Leone has sentenced five men to 80 years’ imprisonment each after finding them guilty of the robbery and murder of Reverend Father Augustine Dauda Amadu in Kenema.
A sixth convict was sentenced to 14 years’ imprisonment after being found guilty of dishonestly receiving a Lenovo laptop stolen during the deadly attack on the Catholic priest.
Delivering the judgment, Justice Alhaji Momoh Jah Stevens described the killing as a ruthless and senseless crime. He ruled that the prosecution had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt, relying on confessional statements, medical reports, and forensic evidence presented during the trial.
The ruling brings to a close one of Sierra Leone’s most shocking criminal cases, with the court imposing lengthy prison terms on those held responsible for the brutal killing of Reverend Father Augustine Dauda Amadu.
