Freetown will host the 2026 Olympic Day Run on Saturday, June 27, as the National Olympic Committee of Sierra Leone (NOC-SLE) joins the global Olympic Day celebration under the theme Let’s Move.
The event will begin with a symbolic run from Bottom Mango, Wilberforce, to the Hill Station Tennis Club, bringing together athletes, sports administrators, students and members of the public to promote fitness, unity and healthy living.
Participants will also take part in sports demonstrations and the Olympic Values Education Programme (OVEP), aimed at promoting the Olympic values of Excellence, Friendship and Respect while encouraging active lifestyles and social inclusion.
According to NOC-SLE, the celebration highlights the role of sport in promoting education, peace, friendship and community development, while reinforcing Sierra Leone’s commitment to sport development and healthier communities.
