Sierra Leone’s Ibrahim Bangura and his teammate Aliya Kamara are topping the fielding and bowling categories respectively, following the Junior Patriots’ commanding eight-wicket victory over Mozambique on Wednesday in the ongoing ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Africa Division 2 Qualifier in Kigali, Rwanda.
At the Kahanga Oval, Mozambique won the toss and elected to bat, hoping to capitalise on any weaknesses in the Sierra Leone side. However, the Junior Patriots produced a dominant bowling performance, restricting Mozambique to just 89 runs all out in 23.5 overs.
Sierra Leone made light work of the chase, reaching 93 runs in just 13 overs while losing only two wickets to seal an emphatic eight-wicket victory.
Beyond the victory, Sierra Leone continues to showcase its strength in key areas of the tournament.
Ibrahim Bangura currently leads the fielding category after being involved in the dismissal of five batters across three matches, further underlining his impressive contribution to Sierra Leone’s campaign.
Aliya Kamara, meanwhile, has established himself at the top of the bowling category, claiming eight wickets from three innings. He has achieved the feat with an impressive bowling economy of 4.14.
The individual performances of Bangura and Kamara, coupled with Sierra Leone’s convincing victory over Mozambique, highlight the Junior Patriots’ growing momentum as they continue their campaign in the ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Africa Division 2 Qualifier.
