The Ministry of Internal Affairs has requested the Sierra Leone Police to conduct a fair investigation into allegations of sexual and physical assault involving Mogbwemo Queens FC player Nadi Quade and Hassan Kamara at a police checkpoint in Bo.
In a letter dated 17 August 2026, addressed to the Inspector General of Police and brought to the attention of the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Southern Region, the Ministry referred to an earlier complaint submitted by Kanu & Associates on 13 August.
The letter, signed by Kumba M. Senessie for the Permanent Secretary, requested the AIG South to investigate the allegations and inform the Minister of Internal Affairs of the outcome.
“The AIG South is kindly requested to conduct a fair investigation on the matter and to inform the Honorable Minister the outcome,” the letter stated.
Copies of the correspondence were also directed to the Chief Minister’s Office and the Minister of Internal Affairs.
The development follows a formal complaint by the legal representatives of Mogbwemo Queens concerning an alleged incident at a checkpoint along the Bo-Freetown axis on 12 August 2026. The complaint alleges that Quade was subjected to unwanted sexual touching before the situation escalated into physical violence involving police personnel. It further alleges that Hassan Kamara was assaulted while attempting to intervene.
According to the legal complaint, Quade, a Guinea-Bissau international who plays for Mogbwemo Queens, had been returning from Freetown after receiving medical treatment in preparation for the WAFU Zone A CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers.
The legal team has called for an impartial and transparent investigation, identification of the officers who were on duty, protection of the complainants and witnesses, and appropriate disciplinary or criminal action should the allegations be substantiated.
