GLASGOW, Scotland — Sierra Leone’s Jordan Aki-Sawyerr made an encouraging Commonwealth Games debut in the Men’s Triple Jump Group A at Scotstoun Stadium, producing a performance that saw him finish just 0.01 metres shy of his personal best.
The British-Sierra Leonean athlete recorded a best jump of 15.12 metres to place 13th in Group A, gaining valuable international experience while proudly representing Sierra Leone on the Commonwealth stage.
Speaking after the event, Aki-Sawyerr expressed pride in competing for his country and remained optimistic about the future.
“It was a good feeling representing my beloved country, Sierra Leone. I learnt a lot and gained huge experience at the Games. It will be a different result in future competitions. I wish to express appreciation to the sports authorities in Sierra Leone for believing in me and for selecting me for the 2026 Commonwealth Games.”
The National Sports Authority congratulated Aki-Sawyerr on his debut, commending his dedication and describing the performance as an important step in his development ahead of future international championships.
