Deputy Minister of Technical and Higher Education Sarjoh Aziz Kamara has reaffirmed his ministry’s commitment to partnering with the Ministry of Sports and the National Sports Authority (NSA) to revive inter-university sports in Sierra Leone.
Speaking during a meeting at the Ministry of Sports, Kamara praised the leadership of Sports Minister Hon. Augusta James-Teima and NSA Executive Director Mohamed Alphaka Conteh, describing sports as a key driver of youth development, job creation, and national unity.
Minister James-Teima said discussions are already underway to revive inter-university competitions, including regional tournaments to identify talent for international events.
NSA Executive Director Conteh called for stronger oversight of sports funds in tertiary institutions, noting that students pay sports fees but competitions remain limited.
The meeting concluded with a commitment from all parties to develop a roadmap for restoring tertiary sports in Sierra Leone.
