Freetown, Sierra Leone, October 8, 2026 – The National Olympic Committee and Commonwealth Games Association of Sierra Leone (NOC/CGA-SLE) is hosting a four-day TAFISA Certified Leadership Training – Level II at the OlympAfrica Centre in Goderich, Freetown, as part of efforts to strengthen sports leadership and administration across the country.
The training, which commenced on October 6 and is scheduled to conclude on October 9, brings together sports administrators, executives and emerging leaders to enhance their leadership and management skills while promoting the Sport for All initiative in Sierra Leone.
Speaking during the opening ceremony, NOC/CGA-SLE Chef de Mission Yayah Koroma encouraged participants to take full advantage of the training by actively engaging in discussions and practical sessions.
Koroma also expressed appreciation to the international facilitators for returning to Sierra Leone to conduct the second phase of the leadership development programme.
TAFISA expert Dr. Katongo Bwalya of Zambia emphasised the importance of interactive learning, urging participants to relate the knowledge acquired to the challenges facing their respective sporting organisations and communities.
“We want the training to be related to your environment and the realities you face in your organisations,” Bwalya stated.
Another facilitator, Elvis Nshimba of the Democratic Republic of Congo, expressed gratitude for the warm reception accorded to the international delegation and welcomed the opportunity to continue supporting sports leadership development in Sierra Leone.
The Level II training follows the successful completion of the first phase in July 2026, marking another step in the NOC/CGA-SLE’s efforts to build the capacity of sports administrators and strengthen institutional leadership.
The programme is expected to equip participants with practical knowledge in sports management, organisational leadership and sustainable programme development.
The initiative also underscores the committee’s commitment to promoting inclusive sports participation and building a stronger administrative foundation for sports development in Sierra Leone.
