The Executive Committee of Sierra Leone Aquatics has appointed one of the association’s longest-serving executive members, Fassineh James Koroma, as Vice President, alongside Reginald Brian Ojukutu Sawyerr as Acting Assistant Secretary General, in a move aimed at strengthening the federation’s administrative leadership.
The appointments were approved during an Executive Committee meeting held on Sunday, 2 August 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the leadership structure and improve the administration and development of aquatic sports across Sierra Leone.
Koroma, who has served Sierra Leone Aquatics for several years, has earned recognition within the federation for his loyalty, diligence, commitment and respect for the institution. His elevation to Vice President reflects the Executive Committee’s confidence in his experience and ability to contribute to the continued growth of aquatic sports in the country.
In his new role, Koroma is expected to work closely with the President and other members of the Executive Committee to advance the federation’s vision, promote athlete development and support the implementation of key programmes and strategic initiatives.
Sawyerr, who also serves as the federation’s Public Relations Officer, has been appointed Acting Assistant Secretary General. He is expected to assist in coordinating the federation’s activities, strengthening communication and ensuring the effective execution of administrative responsibilities.
According to Sierra Leone Aquatics, both officials possess the experience, passion and commitment necessary to contribute meaningfully to the federation’s continued development and success.
The appointments follow the removal of Bobson Mansaray and Joseph Jida-Kiz Kamara from their respective positions. The federation stated that they were removed over actions it described as contrary to the ethics governing the organisation.
Sierra Leone Aquatics reaffirmed its commitment to promoting swimming and other aquatic disciplines across the country, creating opportunities for athletes and strengthening its institutional capacity for sustained success at national and international levels.
