Freetown, Sierra Leone – Sierra Leone Football Association SLFA President Babadi Kamara has inspected the ongoing construction of a 435-seater pavilion at the SLFA Football Academy in Kingtom, reaffirming his commitment to improving football infrastructure across the country.
The inspection was attended by SLFA General Secretary Mohamed Benson Bawoh and Deputy General Secretary Ishmail Saidu Kanu Esq., who joined the association’s president in assessing the progress of the project.
During the visit, Kamara expressed satisfaction with the quality and pace of construction, describing the pavilion as a major addition to the academy’s facilities. He said the project will enhance the venue’s ability to host matches, training sessions, coaching courses, and other football-related activities in a safer and more professional environment.
The pavilion, which will accommodate 435 spectators, is a personal donation from President Kamara to the SLFA. The project, valued at more than US$250,000, also includes the installation of a modern electronic scoreboard.
Speaking during the inspection, Kamara said he remains committed to leaving a lasting legacy through sustainable investments in football infrastructure. He noted that the pavilion will provide quality seating for spectators and stakeholders while strengthening the SLFA Football Academy as a centre of excellence for football development in Sierra Leone.
The project is part of the SLFA’s broader vision to modernise football infrastructure and create an enabling environment for players, coaches, match officials, and supporters. Once completed, the facility is expected to contribute significantly to the long-term growth and professionalisation of football in Sierra Leone.
