Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) President Babadi Kamara is participating in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Strategy Conference in Santa Maria, Sal Island, Cape Verde, as football leaders gather to discuss the future of the game across the continent.
The three-day conference, which runs from October 7 to 9, 2026, is being held under the leadership of CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe, bringing together football administrators, coaches and technical experts to develop strategies aimed at strengthening African football.
The gathering follows the 2026 FIFA World Cup and provides a platform for stakeholders to assess the performances of African national teams, identify areas for improvement and establish long-term development priorities ahead of the 2030 tournament.
Key discussions are expected to focus on improving the competitiveness of African football, strengthening coaching structures, enhancing player development and creating sustainable pathways for emerging talent.
The conference will also address the development of women’s and youth football, with particular attention to technical education, grassroots programmes and long-term investment in football infrastructure.
CAF is seeking to strengthen football development across its 54 member associations as part of its broader ambition to make African football more competitive, professionally managed and financially sustainable.
For Sierra Leone, Kamara’s participation presents an opportunity to engage with continental football stakeholders, exchange ideas and explore strategies that could contribute to the development of football in the country.
His attendance also places Sierra Leone among the nations participating in discussions on the future direction of African football, particularly in areas such as technical development, youth football and administrative reforms.
The conference is expected to conclude on October 9, with discussions contributing to CAF’s long-term strategic priorities for football development across Africa.
