Star Sport Academy FC will represent Sierra Leone in the 2026/27 CAF Champions League following the withdrawal of Sierra Leone Premier League champions Bo Rangers FC from the continental competition.
The announcement was confirmed by the club in a statement released on Wednesday, 23 July 2026, after accepting an invitation from the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) as the next eligible team based on the final league standings.
According to the club, the decision to delay the public announcement was to allow sufficient time for internal consultations and strategic planning ahead of the continental campaign.
Star Sport Academy described the opportunity as a great honour and reaffirmed its commitment to representing Sierra Leone with professionalism, discipline, and pride on Africa’s biggest club football stage.
The club also congratulated Bo Rangers on winning the 2025/26 Sierra Leone Premier League title and expressed appreciation to the SLFA for entrusting it with the responsibility of flying the nation’s flag in the CAF Champions League.
In addition, Star Sport Academy thanked its sponsors, players, technical staff, management, and supporters for their continued belief in the club, adding that preparations for the competition are already in progress.
The academy secured a second-place finish in the 2025/26 Sierra Leone Premier League with 61 points, just three behind champions Bo Rangers, earning its place as the country’s next representative in the CAF Champions League.
With preparations now underway, Star Sport Academy will be aiming to make a positive impression and proudly showcase Sierra Leonean football on the continental stage.
